Když jsem začínala tvořit, nechtěla jsem se věnovat smutným tématům, ale v současných reáliích se to bohužel ukázalo jako nemožné, a tak se pro mě nejstrašnější téma smrti dostalo na povrch v díle „Below the ground“. Je zde zobrazeno dívčí tělo zahalené do kvítí a ponořené do země. Není to alegorie a nejsou zde skryté smysly, nechci smrt romantizovat. Je to skutečně mrtvé tělo, rituální kvítí, prsť a červi, kteří tělo žerou. Účast na výstavě o Sandarmochu je pro mě důležitá proto, že téma politických represí je dnes velice aktuální; je jedno, o jaké represe jde: je to vždy katastrofa, která přináší nesmyslná úmrtí a hrůzyplné následky. Jako opozičně smýšlejícího občana Ruské federace se to nepřímo dotýká také mne a svou účastí na této výstavě vyjadřuji protest proti nespravedlnosti a zvůli vládnoucích struktur.

When I first started to create art, I did not want to cover sad topics, but given the current reality, I cannot avoid them, so the topic of death, the scariest one for me, has surfaced in my work, BELOW THE GROUND. It depicts a girl’s body shrouded in flowers and buried in the ground. There is no allegory, no hidden meanings. I do not want to romanticise death – it is truly a dead body with ritual flowers, the soil, and the worms eating the body. The involvement in the exhibition about Sandarmokh is important for me because the issue of political repression is highly topical today, regardless of the specific repression: it is always a catastrophe that results in senseless deaths and horrible consequences. As a citizen of the Russian Federation with an oppositionist way of thinking, this affects me, albeit indirectly, and through my part in the exhibition, I am speaking out against injustice and the despotism of the ruling structures.
