The painter from Gdansk worked mainly in Italy and for a long time in Milan. In his self-portrait, he chose a stylisation in the manner of Rembrandt as an Oriental with a kind of turban and lighting from behind. Feather jewellery is attached to the turban with a brooch. The stern facial expression is not a personal emotion of the artist, but part of the dramatic staging. Oil on canvas 72.5 x 52.3 cm.
