Repetition of the large-format work in the National Museum in Seville, of which several examples are known. The quality of the painting probably points to a Spanish artist of distinction at the end of the 17th century. Murillo has deliberately placed the biblical events in chiaroscuro, with the light emanating from the child lying on a white sheet, and the tall format with the sky stretching far upwards is intended to point to the divine reference.
