About

Auchentoshan is a Scottish distillery located near Glasgow in the Lowlands, founded in 1823. Its proximity to the River Clyde and Glasgow facilitates distribution, while its name, derived from Gaelic, means "corner of the field." The distillery is unique for its triple distillation method, which is rare among Scottish distilleries and imparts a lighter, more refined character to its whisky, making it a popular entry point for Scotch enthusiasts. Auchentoshan remains part of the Beam Suntory portfolio and continues to use traditional methods in its production.
Auchentoshan Aged 18 Years is a single malt whisky, bottled as a limited edition in 2006. The whisky is matured in a combination of first and second fill sherry casks (1st and 2nd Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts), which gives the whisky fullness and complexity, while the sherry notes are not overpoweringly sweet or heavy but well balanced.
Nose: Rich notes of dried fruit such as raisins and figs, complemented by vanilla, spice, and a hint of roasted nuts.
Taste: Full and warm, with a combination of sherry sweetness, dark fruit, chocolate, and subtle spicy undertones.
Finish: Long and complex, with lingering notes of dried fruit, spice, and subtle woodiness.
Thanks to its higher alcohol strength and the combination of different types of sherry casks, this whisky provides a rich and balanced taste experience that will be appreciated by lovers of sherry whisky with a fuller character.
