As a doctor of law and an art historian, Agathon Klemt was an important Czech personality. He became a painter without any art education. He was entirely self-taught in the field of painting; a remarkable fact given the quality of his works. Klemt was a very talented portraitist who painted a number of Czech and Austrian personalities, including František Palacký. Today, this portrait is housed in the National Museum, in Prague.
