About
A fine Italianate Renaissance Revival (Stile Rinascimento) gilt and polychrome carved wooden tabernacle-style wall mirror. Structured like a classical architectural facade, the frame features a prominent molded cornice supported by two fluted and twisted Solomonic columns topped with Corinthian capitals. The frieze is centrally adorned with a carved winged cherub head (putto) flanked by scroll motifs over a dark green ground. The mirror plate is set within a molded plinth base. Carved, gilded, and painted wood, 19th century, 77 x 78 cm.
