About
This exceptional pair of Italian benches, dating to around 1790–1800, exemplifies the refined neoclassical aesthetic of the late 18th century. Crafted from solid wood, the frames are intricately carved with classical motifs including palmettes, as well as delicate flower and leaf ornaments that are partly elevated in gold, creating a sophisticated contrast against the lighter framework. The elegant, elongated proportions feature straight, fluted tapered legs, open armrests, and a structured backrest enhanced by an openwork frieze. Upholstered in a rich textured blue fabric on both the long seats and backrests, these grand architectural benches combine classical symmetry with exceptional decorative craftsmanship. Solid wood, carved and partly gilded, upholstered in blue fabric; Height 84 cm, Width 254 cm, Depth 56 cm.
