About
An elegant 19th-century oval Biedermeier sewing and work table. The oval top features a beautifully detailed central marquetry medallion with geometric fruitwood and ebonized wood inlays, mirrored on the small lower under-tier shelf. The conforming oval frieze is fitted with a single drawer accented by a brass keyhole escutcheon and delicate beaded borders.
The table is supported by four gracefully curved splayed legs decorated with ebonized wood inlays. The upper shoulders of the legs are further embellished with cast brass mounts depicting female classical masks. Combining clean neoclassical lines with functional domestic elegance, this table serves as a highly decorative period piece.
