About
“Gothic Vase” is a sculptural object combining chamotte, glass and leaded stained‑glass elements. Its form echoes medieval architecture—a solid column‑like base with a richly modelled upper section. Around the body, figurative motifs appear like reliefs on cathedral portals. A circular glass “window” suggests a rose window and brings an unexpected luminous detail into the mass. The earthy, rough chamotte surface contrasts with the smooth transparency of glass and the drawing of lead lines. The work functions as a vase and as an autonomous sculpture—complete even without flowers. As an architect and artist, Šedivý connects playfulness with structural logic and material sensitivity here. It suits both contemporary and eclectic interiors, where its “Gothic” character can shine. Placed on a sideboard or pedestal, it invites viewing from all sides. Dimensions: 20 × 38 cm, weight approx. 3 kg.
