About
CURATOR'S TIP: The striking transition from ruby red through yellow and green to deep blue makes this vase a highly decorative collector's object. Multi-layered sommerso glass is among the most sought-after techniques of post-war Czech glassmaking. An attractive opportunity to acquire a representative example of 1960s Czech design. Elegant conical vase produced in the 1960s by the Chlum u Třeboně glassworks. Crafted using layered coloured glass with a sommerso effect, the vase displays a smooth transition from deep ruby red through yellow and green tones to intense cobalt blue at the rim. The optical effect creates remarkable colour depth and changing reflections depending on the angle of light. The simple tapered silhouette allows the quality of the glass and the richness of the colours to stand out. Measuring 20 cm in height and 6 cm in diameter, the vase works equally well as a standalone decorative object or as part of a collection of Czech art glass. Originating from a Prague private inherited collection, it remains in excellent condition without chips, cracks or restorations. A fine representative example of Czech artistic glass from the celebrated design period of the 1960s.
