About

CURATOR'S TIP: Karel Těšínský belongs to the artists who successfully combined a lyrical sensitivity to nature with the modern visual language of his era. The small-scale painting Spring Branches from 1971 is an attractive example of his abstract interpretation of landscape themes and offers collectors an appealing opportunity to acquire a representative work of Czech post-war art. The composition transforms the motif of awakening spring branches into a dynamic arrangement of lines, textures and subtle colour accents. The light grey surface evokes the atmosphere of early spring, while warm red blossoms animate the composition with rhythm and movement. The artist combines gestural expression with a refined sense of structure, creating a work that is both contemplative and visually engaging. Despite its intimate dimensions, the painting possesses remarkable presence and decorative appeal. Signed and dated lower right “K. T. 1971”. Provenance: inherited from a valuable and extensive Prague art collection, from which several further works will be offered in this auction.

Author
