About
The painting Rural Scene depicts a countryside landscape with a waterway running through the centre of the composition and receding towards distant houses. Tall, leafless trees rise along both banks, their dark trunks and intricate branches creating a striking visual structure. On the right-hand side, a yellow house with a red roof stands out, accompanied by a fence and additional buildings in the background. The calm surface of the water reflects the silhouettes of the surrounding trees, visually connecting the different elements of the landscape.
The painting is distinguished by its vivid colours and distinctive stylisation of individual motifs. The intense blue of the water contrasts with the green grassy areas, the yellow and red tones of the architecture, and the dark silhouettes of the trees. The composition is constructed through bold lines, simplified forms, and decoratively rendered details. The rhythmic repetition of branches and their reflections in the water lends the scene a sense of movement, while clearly defined areas of colour emphasise its strong visual character.
The work dates from 1961 and is executed in acrylic on wooden panel, measuring 50.5 × 40.5 cm. The painting is signed and dated in the lower right corner and is framed.
Author
Mimo jiné vystavoval v Galerii U Lužického semináře v roce 2007, na zámku v Dobříši v roce 2001 a v Uherském Hradišti v roce 1998.
