The bronze sculpture Silence depicts a stylised human face with a finger pressed against the lips in a gesture calling for silence. The face is rendered through irregular, fragmented forms, with pronounced features of the nose, mouth, and eyes emerging from the textured surface. The vertically oriented composition combines the human face and hand into a unified sculptural form, with the gesture of silence as its central motif.

The sculpture is characterised by a rough texture, irregular modelling, and pronounced contrasts of light and shadow. The dark bronze patina, complemented by subtle lighter highlights, accentuates the individual details of the face and hand. The interplay of recognisable human features and distorted forms creates an expressive composition with an enigmatic atmosphere.

The sculpture is executed in bronze and measures 37 cm in height, with a total height of 48 cm including the black base. The signature is located at the lower left. This is a modern cast without certification.

Salvador Dalí se narodil 11. května 1904 v katalánském městě Figueres. Svou uměleckou dráhu začal studiem na Academia de San Fernando v Madridu, kde se však dostal do konfliktu s vedením školy a byl v roce 1926 vyloučen. Během svých studijních let se spřátelil s Luisem Buňuelem a básníkem Federicem Garcíou Lorcou. V roce 1926 cestoval do Paříže, kde navázal kontakt s Pablem Picassem a brzy nato se stal členem pařížské surrealistické skupiny.

Byl známý svým jedinečným surrealistickým stylem, jehož typickými prvky byly roztékající se hodiny, sloni na tenkých nohách či mravenci. Dalího díla byla silně ovlivněna teorií psychoanalýzy Sigmunda Freuda a starými mistry. Kromě malířství se věnoval také filmu, grafice, sochařství a designu. Spolupracoval s řadou význačných osobností, včetně Luise Buñuela, Walta Disneyho a Alfreda Hitchcocka.

V průběhu druhé světové války se Salvador Dalí přesunul do USA, kde zůstal až do roku 1948, než se vrátil zpět do Španělska. V Americe publikoval svou autobiografii a pokračoval v své tvorbě, která často reflektovala jeho náboženský zájem a mysticismus. Zemřel 23. ledna 1989 ve svém rodném městě Figueres. Jeho dílo má trvalý dopad na svět umění, a Salvador Dalí je považován za jednoho z nejvýznamnějších surrealistických malířů 20. století.
