Paper brittle, in places slightly stained, minor losses at the corners due to mounting. Ferdiš Duša – had no formal art education. He liked to travel, visiting Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Ukraine and Slovakia, absorbing the local atmosphere and teaching himself to paint. In 1910 he began working at the ceramics workshop of the Jaroněk brothers in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, later went independent in the field, but was not successful in business. Around 1927 he moved to Prague, where he became a member of the Hollar art association, with which he exhibited several times. In 1955 he returned to his native Frýdlant nad Ostravicí. He is most valued as a graphic artist and illustrator. The core of his work consists of cycles of woodcuts drawing thematically on the Těšín and Ostrava regions. In later years he turned his attention to Slovakia. Themes with social undertones, inspired by the political and economic situation of the 1920s and 1930s, are frequent in his work. He illustrated works by Petr Bezruč and Vojtěch Martínek.
