František Kyncl - Czech painter and sculptor, one of the most important Czech constructivists of the second half of the 20th century. He studied sculpture and interior architecture at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Prague (1950-1953), and after emigrating, at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art (1969-1971) under G. Hoehme; he later taught there in 1981-1982. In the mid-1970s he published the magazine Schwarz auf Weiß, mapping the Czech independent and exile art scene. From expressively stylised portraits he moved towards geometric structures, on the basis of which he then created series of frottages taken from these objects. From the late 1980s, spatial structures were gradually replaced by drawings capturing regular networks of interconnected points. His work is represented, for example, in the collections of the National Gallery Prague and the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
