Josef Větrovský - a Prague photographer, devoted chiefly to portraits and nudes, but also to still lifes, documentary and genre photography. His original profession was construction, and he began as an amateur photographer. In 1926 he took part in the 1st members' exhibition of the Czech Photographic Society, and in 1939 he held his own retrospective exhibition at the Czech Club of Amateur Photographers, of which he had been an active member since 1932. He was a direct pupil of F. Drtikol, taking courses in nude and portrait photography with him, and his photographs display similar subjects and compositions with geometric shapes. In 2004 a monographic exhibition of the artist's works from 1920-1938 was held at the V. Špála Gallery.
