Slightly frayed corners and minor loss of emulsion in the middle of the upper margin, a small stain in the image area. Ing. arch. Vilém Boháč studied architecture at the Czech Technical University. He then worked his whole life in Liberec, employed at the local national committee, where he took part in promoting the town and region. He began devoting himself to photography already during his studies, and in Prague was a member of the Club of Amateur Photographers. Instead of total deployment (forced labour) in Germany he was assigned to work for the firm of the architect Chalupníček, where he learned a great deal about photography, including photographing on glass plates. Towards the end of the war he began photographing female nudes. He was successful with them and they became his lifelong theme. He was one of the first photographers in our country to exhibit nudes publicly. He sought models and subjects in the fine arts, stylizing strongly and emphasizing simple lines, shapes and striking details of the female body. He used special photographic techniques typical of the 1960s, such as sandwich montages, double exposures or the projection of various screens over the original image. Besides nudes he devoted himself to portraits and theatre photography. He received a number of awards at international competitions in Legnica, Modena, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro and London. He published in professional journals both at home and abroad and was a member of the Union of Architects of the ČSSR. From 1970 he worked at Stavoprojekt as a designer. J.
