About

Astrální hmyz prozářený světlem kosmické mlhoviny se vznáší v hlubokém prostoru obrazu. Malba patří do série Deep Space, v níž Jakub Tytykalo zkoumá vesmír jako metaforu zenu, soustředění a meditace. Skrze tyto vrstvy se promítá jemný závoj každodenní existence, rozpuštěný v nekonečnu.

Jakub Tytykalo is a Czech painter whose work also takes in drawing, sculpture and street art interventions in public space. In 2014 he completed his studies in the Printmaking Studio of Jiří Lindovský at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. During his studies he moved through several placements: the drawing studio of Jiří Petrbok, the sculpture studio of Jaroslav Róna and a painting studio at a university in Madrid. He has behind him a series of group and solo exhibitions at major art institutions in Bohemia and Moravia as well as abroad, among them Sidewinding at Bold Gallery, Myth Game at Chemistry Gallery and I am the Space Where I am at Galerie Klatovy Klenová. His works are held in significant Czech and international art collections.

Jakub Tytykalo’s work frequently alternates contrasting forms within a unified, largely monochrome palette, revealing his ability to combine classical painting techniques with modern styles. Unusual, fantastical elements carry echoes of Surrealism, while a Cubist influence comes through in the structural and geometric aspects of his compositions. In his most recent work he has been experimenting with the photographic medium and with airbrush technique.
